CAAS: A Message from CDP’s Accommodation Policy Team on Challenges

Under the Combined Accommodation Assessment System (CAAS) policy, challenges made by Service Personnel should be responded to within 28 days. However, on transition from 4 Tier Grading (4TG) it was recognised that there would be a spike in challenges as Service Families Accommodation (SFA) occupants received their final CAAS Band for the first time.  During this period CarillionAmey and DIO have endeavoured to respond to all challenges as quickly as possible but in some cases it is taking more than 28 days as the new charging system beds-in; currently, 45% of challenges made have failed to meet the mandated response time, which is very regrettable even if many failed by just a few days.  In response, additional resources have been made available to deal with the backlog, and your understanding in this matter is requested.  All challenges will be responded to.
