CAAS: A Message from CDP’s Accommodation Policy Team on Challenges

Under the Combined Accommodation Assessment System (CAAS) policy, challenges made by Service Personnel should be responded to within 28 days. However, on transition from 4 Tier Grading (4TG) it was recognised that there would be a spike in challenges as Service Families Accommodation (SFA) occupants received their final CAAS Band for the first time.  During this period CarillionAmey and DIO have endeavoured to respond to all challenges as quickly as possible but in some cases it is taking more than 28 days as the new charging system beds-in; currently, 45% of challenges made have failed to meet the mandated response time, which is very regrettable even if many failed by just a few days.  In response, additional resources have been made available to deal with the backlog, and your understanding in this matter is requested.  All challenges will be responded to.

Boost for the Boys

BFBS “Boost for the Troops” Campaign connects Forces Families
BFBS has a new way of keeping families in touch – we've teamed up with The Sun newspaper and Audioboo to launch “Boost for the Troops”.

Using the “Boost for the Troops” webpage ( you can record and upload messages for family and friends wherever they are in the forces world. The service is free and simple to use.

For iPhone users, leaving an audio message is even easier thanks to the new BFBS app, which can be downloaded from the iTunes store for free.
All of the recorded messages are then played on BFBS Radio to forces listeners around the world, and in the UK on Digital Radio.
The messages are also uploaded onto the “Boost for the Troops” webpage on Audioboo, meaning you can listen again to your message if you miss it on BFBS.

Give Us Time: Matching donated holidays with service families

Give Us Time takes holidays donated by owners of holiday groups, hotels, holiday homes and timeshares, and matches them with military families in need of rest, rehabilitation and reconnection after tours of duty. The charity was founded in 2012 by Dr Liam Fox MP who, in his time as an Army medic and later as Secretary of State for Defence, became aware that homecomings were not always as easy as might be expected for service personnel or their families.
Often after months away from home, the family dynamic can change considerably and it can be stressful for both the service personnel and their families to readjust to a life together again, in a domestic situation that may be different to how it was before they left. Give Us Time helps service families reconnect to life after combat and provides them with the chance to spend time together and to reaffirm their family bond.
