Welfare Notice

Please take the time to read the information below which has been passed to us from Great Sampford Primary School.

We have had a report from a family in Great Sampford who had a cold caller at their front door yesterday evening. The cold caller was female, said she was an ex-offender, and wanted to sell items from her back pack. She had a card which she presented as a permit. The homeowner refused to buy anything and the cold caller became intimidating in her speech and attitude. The parent closed the door on her. Later they found offensive graffiti had been written on the door in biro.

This has been reported to the local police who have advised that NO permits have been issued for any part of Essex for door-to-door selling. Anyone purporting to have a permit and offering goods for sale should be reported to the police immediately.

Separately, we are aware that a blue transit van has been seen driving slowly around local villages – sighted in Finchingfield, Thaxted, Great Bardfield, Stebbing and Great Sampford - allegedly checking out gardens and houses. The occupants are a man and a woman. We do not know if this is related to the incident last night. We understand this has also been reported to local police.

We are advising families to be aware and call the local police on 101 if they have any concerns.

Thank you.

Security Awareness: Social Media

Carillionamey : Social Media

From Monday 30th March, CarillionAmey are updating the way they use Facebook in order to provide useful information to our customers who 'like' our Facebook page. Going forward the CarillionAmey page will be used to increase our customers' knowledge of the service.  The CarillionAmey Social Media Manager will be able to provide information and signpost customers, so that they can learn to use our service more effectively.  However, comments will no longer be visible to all, just the Social Media Manager. CarillionAmey want to encourage our social media users to continue to make suggestions or request information that may be useful for everyone in their Facebook community, in turn this will help us to develop content that addresses the most frequently asked questions.

The CarillionAmey Facebook page was never intended to be used for raising jobs, compliments or complaints.  If you need to raise a job, record a compliment, lodge a complaint or need advice on a housing issue you should always contact the CarillionAmey Helpdesk on 0800 707 6000 or pop into your Local Customer Service Centre.

All Welcome

The Royal School Hampstead Trust

The Royal School Hampstead Trust originated from the Royal Daughters Home on Rosslyn Hill, Hampstead.

In 2011, the Trustees received permission from the Charity Commissioners to cease to run a school and to lease the buildings and site to an educational provider. Cognita now rents the property and the income received is used to make grants.

There is now The Royal School Hampstead Trust (RSHT), which exists to assist in funding the education of dependents of servicemen and women, both currently serving and retired. Grants are available to those up to the age of 25.

Any eligible serving or ex-Service parent can apply for help, either through allocation of a financial grant direct to a school, College or University, or provision of a discounted place.

If you would like more information on how to support for your child’s education, details including the application form are contained on the Trust website www.rshtrust.com
