Soldiers in Blue

Soldier In Blue provides ex-service personnel to the Entertainment Industry as Extras and Military Advisors.

In 2012, whilst themselves working on the set for the film adaptation of ‘Les Miserables’ having just left the army, Xander Rawlins and Charlie Rotheram experienced first hand the opportunities that exist within the Entertainment Industry that could be offered to ex-service men and women, and the families of those currently serving.
Charlie and Xander served as officers in The Light Dragoons and The Grenadier Guards on operations in Afghanistan and they know how hard it can be to take the step into civilian life. Their aim is to alleviate some of those pressures and offer unique and entertaining experiences within an Industry that, in many ways, resembles life in the Armed Forces.
It is our hope that Soldier In Blue will not only provide a medium through which the Film and TV industry can be provided with a reliable pool of experienced and skilled individuals, but also serve as a means for the industry to give something back to those that have served their country.

Cambridge News: Panto Article

A civic welcome was extended to brave soldiers and their families as they enjoyed a seasonal treat in Cambridge.
Royal Engineers from Carver Barracks, near Saffron Walden, were treated to a performance of the Robin Hood pantomime at Cambridge Arts Theatre with their partners and children on Sunday afternoon.
They were then whisked off for a lavish tea at the Guildhall attended by Cllr Paul Saunders, the mayor of Cambridge.
The event was organised and supported by Saffron Walden Rotary Club, with the backing of substantial sponsorship of Saffron Insurance Brokers.
Six coaches had to be laid on to ferry all the service personnel and their families.
Cllr Saunders said it had been “pleasure” to pay tribute to the engineers, who have playing a key role in bomb disposal in war zones around the world recently.
He said: “It was our chance to say thank you. It was wonderful to see the hall full of kids enjoying themselves.”

Panto 2014

The Robin Hood pantomine that 240 Carver Barracks families attended yesterday was completely funded by Saffron Insurance - the employees have been fundraising all year by doing bake off's/quiz's to raise the funds needed for the day.  Below therefore is the postal address for any thank you cards or to pen a few words to the staff and MD (David Beswick) of Saffron Insurance for the amazing day that everyone had.

Saffron House, 67 High Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1AA

The Rotary Club of Saffron Walden organised the whole event for us with the financial help of Saffron Insurance. John McAdams of the Rotary Club was amazing down to any fine detail - so they definitely deserve a card too. I do not a have postal address at the moment but their email is:
