The following advice is for all personnel including families

If you think there is an immediate threat to life – Dial 999.

Do not hesitate to report anything suspicious (particularly the activity of people and vehicles) to the Guardroom.

Security is your responsibility (as well as MoD’s) and extends well beyond the workplace.

Be proud of who you are and what you do but remain alert to potential threats at all times and take sensible precautions, including when travelling, socialising and when on-line.  Where possible, avoid setting patterns when travelling to and from your place of work.

Understand your ‘digital footprint’ and secure your on-line presence.
Do not disclose sensitive information on-line.  This includes personal details, operational activity or our force protection / security measures. It also includes posting or re-posting photographs of operations or operational activity, because the location can be ascertained through geo-tagging i.e. the location data embedded in digital images.

Ensure that you protect your personal electronic devices (and MoD’s) at all times, particularly when travelling.

Inform family members of the need not to mention information about operations and deployments involving you or your colleagues in public or on-line i.e. don’t discuss when you’re going on operations, when you are coming back or what job you’re doing when you’re there.

Don’t ‘brag’ or provoke others whose personal views differ from yours.  Do not publicly disclose your Defence associations or disclose sensitive information when socialising (including online) or when travelling in public.

The end of Afghanistan….

As most of you know Operation Herrick in Afghanistan has finally finished and our soldiers from Carver Barracks are home. It has been a long and at times very hard operation that has affected all of us at Carver Barracks and so we want to mark the end of the time there and honour the courage and endurance that the families have displayed during that time.

If you are married to soldier currently serving at Carver Barracks please save the date of the 24th January next year and join us.

Stay secure - important message about access to Service homes

There have been some recent reports of incidents where people have tried to gain unauthorised access to Service Family Accommodation.

All families are advised that it is very rare for CarillionAmey or Defence Infrastructure Organisation staff to turn up unannounced, and in particular they will not turn up to undertake unannounced work or inspections.

We ask that all Service families remain vigilant when receiving unexpected visits and ask to see identification.  If you receive an unexpected request to undertake work and wish to check credentials please call the CarillionAmey Helpdesk on 0800 707 6000.  If you have any concerns about your security please contact the Police or your local security section/guardroom immediately.  Any additional information regarding Description of Callers and Vehicle Details may assist in any subsequent investigation.

In addition, if you see any suspicious activity in your area, including people or vehicles, please take the details and pass them to the Police or security section.  Do not potentially put yourself in danger by confronting anyone.

Rag Heroes

RagHeroes are a brand new range of rag dolls, with boys in mind - although we are sure your little girls will love them too! The dolls are 55cm long, machine washable and handmade by UK mums. Each one is unique; the face is hand painted giving each a big smile and lots of character too. Included in the range is ‘The Super Soldier’, designed by mum of two boys Maria Albertsen, who after being made redundant was inspired by watching the Military Wives Choir on TV.
RagHeroes donate ten per cent of all profits to The Forces Children's Trust.
